Peoria Group Aids Students

PEORIA - Recycling for Illinois is mounting a push to get 2,400 computers into the hands of low-income children by the beginning of the school year.
The not-for-profit group collects used electronics - not just computers but also TVs, cell phones, microwaves and other items - and provides them to disabled and low-income families.

3 Bad Supreme Court Rulings
Today (June 27) the Supreme Court handed down 2 rulings that, added to the decision last week regarding eminent domain and private property, greatly disturbed me.
Today's two decisions, reversing Grokster and determining that Cable is not a common carrier, hurt American technology and our ability to compete in the world. last week's decision takes your private property and gives it to local government to do with as they please. All are victories for big businesses over the rights of individuals and small entrapreneurs

Fischer, Kasparov Chess Opposites
With two of the major news stories being followed within the past few weeks having chess undertones, perhaps I should mention them. I am of course typing about Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov. Caught in Japan's Fischer net, Bobby wants to go home to Iceland. Garry Kasparov wants to retire and to go into Russian politics. Neither of these two chess wonders want to play the game.
